About Us

How we got our start…

I started out making beaded jewelry for humans and loved creating different designs. Upon seeing my first beaded browband at a tack shop, I thought, "Those are gorgeous and they're not much different than what I already do." So, I decided to try my hand at making my own for my horse Sabrina.

I started with the sewn down version and it was a difficult trial and error process. I struggled to figure out what to string the beads on (wire, thread, etc) and how to attach the beads to the browband. After many failed attempts and with the help of my own horses and those of friends, I came up with the process I use today. The beads are strung on fishing line, yes fishing line!  I discovered fishing line is extremely strong and worked easily with a needle to sew onto the leather browband. An added advantage is its clear color that doesn't interfere with the look of the design.

Next, was the creation of an interchangeable browband. I knew these would have to be made differently in order to facilitate the removable feature. I discovered wire made a better medium for stringing these beads as it was more rigid allowing the beads to lay better in the empty channel of the leather browband. The ends of the wire are wrapped around metal rings. The leather browbands have holes punched at each end where Chicago screws can be inserted. The metal rings fit through the Chicago screws and are fastened down to the leather browband to attach the bead string to the browband securely. This makes for an extremely durable design.

Next, came the addition of dog collars, because let’s face it, who doesn’t want some bling for your best furry friend too?! Due to the nature of dogs, rubbing along things, scratching, etc, I only make these in a sewn down version. I have found they are much sturdier and will last your best friend much longer!

I have enjoyed the process of learning the art of making browbands and love creating designs using all sorts of bead colors, materials, and shapes that meet the wishes of my clients. No two beaded browbands are ever exactly alike, because I want you to truly have a custom designed browband.
